The Flaming Lips and Weezer — two bands who continue to reinvent the live music experience — literally shared a stage last night at NJ’s PNC Banks Art Center. It may shock you to know that you’re a simple lottery win away from picking up a Like New copy of Tetris for the Sega Mega Drive (that’s the Genesis to us Yanks). That’s right, for the low price of $1 million American, you can pick up an original Japanese Mega Drive cartridge signed by the game’s creator, Alekséi Pázhitnov on eBay. No word on whether the Russian game designer will actually hand deliver the red-boxed piece of gaming history if you’re the lucky winner.

Guitar Hero to be resurrected, retooled, and launch reunion tour

Guitar Hero to be resurrected, retooled, and launch reunion tour

Guitar Hero ResurrectionStop mourning wannabe rock stars — Guitar Hero is coming back. We heard the rumors of its demise were greatly exaggerated, but now word has come straight from Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick that the game is currently being reinvented for a modern, more demanding audience. As he told Forbes, “we’re going to take the products out of the market, and we’re not going to tell anybody what we’re doing for awhile… we’re going to use new studios and reinvent Guitar Hero. And so that’s what we’re doing with it now.” So there you go — Guitar Hero’s retirement was only temporary. Like any good performer it’ll be back before you’ve even had a chance to miss it. Looks like the franchise will keep rocking out well past its prime. What’s the console equivalent of playing a state fair?

Fugazi’s “” is one of my favorite songs, a punk anthem that found me at the right time and led me down a particular path. TV On The Radio covered it at the Pitchfork Festival. This is what their take looked and sounded like — from a distance:

Ryan Adams Covers Vampire Weekend

Ryan Adams Covers Vampire Weekend

A little laptop-cam serenade from D.R. Adams, a flashback to the days he fed his blog more frequently. In Ryan’s hands, Vampire Weekend‘s “Mansard Roof” is finger-picked and singer-songwriterly. In Ryan’s words, “I do it no justice but I love it. I sung it imagining being on a beach made of diamonds with a darkened night sky full of twinkling sand.” Word. Watch it on Facebook. In remembrance of Foggy.
